An investigation is underway following a three car domino effect car crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Manchester Township around 12:10 pm.

Police said that 84-year old Eleanor Finke of Manchester Township was driving east along Columbus Boulevard when she suddenly struck a parked and unoccupied 2021 Penske Rental Truck on its drivers side, but then, she continued to accelerate and ended up hitting a parked unoccupied Suburban on the rear driver side of that vehicle.

It was at this point that Manchester Police said a group of bystanders tried to help Finke control her vehicle, but, one of the men trying to help at this time -- 32 year old John D. Dekyne III -- was hit in his right leg by the 2002 Lexus LS4 Finke was driving, but after hitting him, the vehicle stopped.

Police said that Dekyne III sustained a minor injury to his right leg and was brought over to Community Medical Center in Toms River for further evaluation.

Finke was uninjured in the crash, police said.

Manchester Police said that the crash investigation is ongoing, "but at this point, the unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and driver inattention are the contributing factors in the crash."
