
Major Pharmacy Chain Announces 270 Closures, What It Means for New Jersey Stores
CVS announced it will be closing 270 stores in 2025. In CVS's recent annual report filed several months ago, they're calling it the enterprise-wide restructuring plan to streamline and simplify the organization, according to newsweek.com.
Did you know CVS closed over 900 since 2022? Crazy, right? Most friends or family members get their prescriptions through a mail-order.

Also, from newsweek.com, CVS says these extra closures will help gain more money with "existing stores and pharmacies."
Why is CVS closing so many stores nationwide?
A spokesperson for CVS says the closings are because of several factors: "Population shifts, consumer buying patterns, store and pharmacy density, pharmacy care access, and community health needs."

Is it possible we just don't need pharmacies anymore? I hope not, but with the main or most known pharmacies like Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid, we've only see closings or bankruptcies for these pharmacies in the last year or two.
Will any New Jersey CVS locations close at this time?
The good news for New Jersey - NO. CVS is not closing any stores in New Jersey But, who knows what will happen by the end of the year or the beginning of next year as they keep making changes.
