The annual 'Made in Monmouth' event where local businesses can showcase their food and items makes its return this coming Saturday after being postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone tells Townsquare Media News that the event is an opportunity for the small mom-and-pop, home based, small businesses "to be able to showcase their product -- what they make, what they manufacture -- whether it's sewing, whether it's making coffee, whether it's making crafts, making woodwork and numerous differing things -- painting, artwork."

Arnone hopes the timing of the event will help these businesses as the Christmas and holiday season approaches over the next few weeks.

"We hope it's going to help them sell some products," Arnone said. "In the past, we have been told by the small businesses that it's one of the highest revenue based Saturday's that they have, so I hope that continues here."

There will be more than 120 vendors at the 'Made in Monmouth' event on Saturday, which is free for everyone and will also include jewelry set-ups as well as food, art, accessories, home decor and a lot more to take a look at between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Robert J. Collins Arena at Brookdale Community College.

This event alone can have both short term and long term impacts on small businesses in Monmouth County.

"We have heard from numerous, numerous small businesses that they have gained so much notoriety from this event and I must say that as soon as we put it out, the registration is filled immediately," Arnone said.
