The drug epidemic continues to wreak havoc across Ocean County and New Jersey as dangerous drugs such as heroin and meth continue to circulate through our communities.

Those are the two drugs Lakehurst Police found at a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon after pulling a vehicle over in the borough and, as it turns out, a stone's throw from the police department itself outside of the Travel Inn and Suites Motel.

The Police Sergeant had pulled over the Infiniti Sedan around 4:50 pm along Route 70 for careless driving in the area.

As the Sgt. investigated the scene, he learned that 40-year-old John E. Rivera of Jackson, who was the passenger in the vehicle, had an active criminal warrant out for his arrest and so he was placed in handcuffs, and without incident.

A search of the Infiniti Sedan led to the discovery of nearly 45 wax folds of Heroin, an undisclosed quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, a switchblade knife, and an undisclosed amount of drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Nichole Ambrosio of Toms River, was then arrested along with Rivera, and both were charged with two counts of Possession of CDS, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of CDS, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Ambrosio and Rivera were then brought down the street to Lakehurst Police Headquarters for processing and were then brought to the Ocean County Jail in downtown Toms River.

The Lakehurst Police Sgt. was joined at the scene of the motor vehicle stop and arrest by an Ocean County Sheriff's Officer and his K-9 Duke.
