Kids Can Safely Get The COVID-19 Vaccine. Here’s How

If your kid could get the COVID-19 vaccine, would you allow them to get it?

Well you may soon have the option.

But first, just a quick reminder of who is eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine & Booster Shot along with some other important info:

Soon, this list of eligibility may include your young ones.

According to APP.com, the Pfizer vaccine is being described as "safe and effective" for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old.

The only difference is that kids would be given 1/3 of a full, adult dose of the vaccine. A typical adult will receive 30 micrograms of the vaccine while kids will receive 10 micrograms.

But there is a catch.

The Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still have to give the official green light for the Pfizer vaccine to be administered to kids.

Because the dose is much smaller, kids would only experience the similar, minor symptoms seen in adults who receive the vaccine.

How long do you think we will have to wait?

According to an FDA representative, approval should come in weeks...not months.

"We are eager to extend the protection afforded by the vaccine to this younger population, subject to regulatory authorization, especially as we track the spread of the delta variant and the substantial threat it poses to children,” Albert Bourla, Pfizer's chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "These trial results provide a strong foundation for seeking authorization of our vaccine for children 5 to 11 years old, and we plan to submit them to the FDA and other regulators with urgency.”

If you have a kid younger than the age of 5, try not to worry too much because tests are being done on kids ages 5 and younger.

According to APP.com, "companies are also studying their vaccine in children ages 2 to 5, and 6 months to age 2, but those trials are not yet complete. Younger children are being tested on a 3 microgram dose."

Until this entire plan is given the green light, health experts say the best way you can keep your kids safe is to have all adults in your household vaccinated.
