Seven Arrested in Ocean County Drug Bust

Authorities say seven people are now facing charges following a drug bust in Ocean County Tuesday.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer says numerous law enforcement agencies launched an investigation recently into the distribution of heroin in Ocean County area. Their work ultimately led to homes in South Toms River and a room at the Ocean View Inn and Suites in Toms River. Billhimer says 26-year-old Kevin Morrison, Jr., of South Toms River, 26-year-old Daniel Finklin, also of South Toms River, and 35-year-old Rodney Morrison of Toms River were using those locations to store and distribute heroin.

On Tuesday, cops executed search warrants at those three properties and they seized approximately 3,210 wax folds of heroin, 52 ecstasy pills, a loaded .38 caliber revolver, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $11,700 in cash.

Morrison, Jr., was charged with Distribution of Less than One-Half Ounce of Heroin, Possession of Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces with Intent to Distribute, Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces, two counts of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Ecstasy, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense, and Receiving Stolen Property.

Finklin was charged with Possession of Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin, and Obstruction of Justice.

Morrison was charged with Distribution of Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces, Possession of Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces with Intent to Distribute, two counts of Possession of Heroin, and Possession of Cocaine.

22-year-old Kiara Rivera of South Toms River has been charged with Possession of Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce but Less than Five Ounces with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Ecstasy, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense, and Receiving Stolen Property.

49-year-old Kevin Morrison, Sr., of South Toms River, is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Obstruction of Justice, and Resisting Arrest.

Those five people are all being held at the Ocean County Jail pending detention hearings.

56-year-old Brinda Kennedy South Toms River was charged with Possession of Ecstasy and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

32-year-old Shelly Braker of Toms River was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Heroin.

Those two were both charged on a summons and released pending a future court date.
