Hot on the heels of this week's announcement of The Count Basie Center for the Arts' first "Drive-In Live" show at Monmouth Park with Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes on Saturday, July 11th, they dropped another Drive-In Live announcement this week, with comedian Jim Gaffigan.

In a time where we have to rethink so many things in light of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, there have been so many creative options for people to enjoy some social distancing friendly entertainment this summer.

Of course, drive-in movies are somewhat of a no-brainer, but what about live music and theater?

The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank got together with their Monmouth County neighbors at Monmouth Park Racetrack to bring live performances back to the Jersey Shore in a social distancing friendly way.

As Diana Tyler reported on Monday, the Southside Johnny show is set for July 11th. You can click here for much more on that show.

Earlier today, another press release landed in my inbox from the Basie announcing the next in the Drive-In series, featuring Emmy Award winning comedian Jim Gaffigan.

The Jim Gaffigan Drive-In Live show will be at Monmouth Park Racetrack on Sunday, July 12th.

According to the press release from The Basie, here's how it'll work:

  • Tickets will be sold on a per-car basis (4 occupants per vehicle, so no cramming Grandma in the way-back) and start at $165 per-car.
  • The vehicles will be spaced about 9-feet apart and staggered. Attendees are welcome to open their windows but are asked to stay in their cars.

Tickets to both the Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes show and the Jim Gaffigan show go on sale tomorrow (Friday, June 5th) at 10 A.M.
