Now that it's Thursday, it's a good time to plan something fun to do this weekend.  Will you be heading to the movies?  If so, are you going to see something that won or was nominated at the Academy Awards Sunday night?

It happens every year, these little known, critically acclaimed films get nominated for an Oscar and suddenly there's a lot of interest.  Moviegoers get curious.  Remember "Birdman" which won the Best Picture Oscar?  Would you have seen that film if it hadn't been nominated?  I probably wouldn't have, yet after the awards, I sat and watched.

Industry folks call this the post-Oscar "bump."  The studios and cinemas love it because it brings in a lot more money.

Does awards season influence your movie-watching decisions?  Will you be adding your dollars to the film companies' bottom lines this weekend?  What do you think you might see?  "The Revenant" with Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, a film whose director also won?  "Room" with Best Actress Brie Larson?   "Spotlight" with that great cast and compelling story about investigative journalism (directed by New Jersey-born Tom McCarthy)?   Tell us your weekend movie plans in the Comments section below.
