Jackson Police arrest five for car theft, still investigating several car burglaries
Jackson Police have put a bow on a car theft investigation but a probe into several car burglaries remains open and active this morning.
Five Monmouth County residents are facing charges in Jackson after they stole a 2017 Chevy Equinox on Cedar Swamp Road Saturday night and went joyriding in it.
Police caught up to the vehicle with help from OnStar that was in the Ford around 10:39 pm on West Veterans Highway and while speaking with the driver, smelt the fumes of pot emanating from the car.
A search of the vehicle found marijuana, several hypodermic syringes and an open bottle of Hennessy with the occupants inside the Ford.
Ireanna Sims, 25 of Freehold is charged with vehicle taken without consent, receiving stolen property, driving while intoxicated, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of marijuana and an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Oakhurst in addition to other motor vehicle summonses.
She was later lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
Ahdaizjha Bellamy, 22 of Asbury Park is charged with vehicle taken without consent, receiving stolen property, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of marijuana and an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Tinton Falls.
Kynisha Glover, 27 of Asbury Park is charged with: unlawful means of conveyance/joy riding, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of marijuana and an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Tinton Falls.
Aquane Glover, 26 of Asbury Park is charged with unlawful means of conveyance/joy riding, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of marijuana.
Caeaona Smith, 23 of Asbury Park is charged with unlawful means of conveyance/joy riding, possession of hypodermic syringes.
Jackson Police are also investigating multiple motor vehicle burglaries and thefts which occurred mostly in the Hampshire Hills neighborhood in the early Sunday morning hours.
A resident on Churchill Court told police that a 2018 Nissan had been stolen from their driveway during the early morning hours. The owner was unable to locate the key fob for the vehicle and a NJ driver’s license and credit cards were reported to have been left in the vehicle. The vehicle was reported by EZ Pass as going through the Union Toll just after 5:00 am.
Another resident on Churchill Court reported having a security video of a male wearing a hooded sweatshirt attempting to make entry to vehicles in their driveway, but all of the vehicles were locked.
A third resident on Churchill Court reported that an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway had been entered and ransacked but nothing of value was reported stolen.
A resident of Knightsbridge Place reported 2 vehicles were stolen from their driveway. A 2011 BMW and a 2016 Ford which were both reported as being unlocked were stolen. The BMW was located disabled on Route 9 by the Marlboro Police Department and was secured for the investigation.
One other resident of Knightsbridge Place reported that a vehicle parked at the residence was entered.
Seven residents reported vehicles being entered on Lancaster Way.
Three residents reported vehicles being entered on Kensington Court, including one residence alone where 4 vehicles were entered.
Residents also reported vehicles being entered on Chiswick Court, Piccadilly Drive, Sussex Place and Victoria Circle.
Police believe that all vehicles which were entered during this time were unlocked and no forced entry was reported, many of the other vehicles entered were ransacked and nothing of value was reported stolen.
Other vehicles had cash in amounts from $10.00 - $30.00 stolen.
In videos and images taken by security systems provided for the investigation, it appears that the suspects were three males who were all observed to be wearing hooded sweatshirts, gloves and some kind of winter masks covering their faces.
Police issue yet another reminder to remove all valuables from your vehicles and lock them, even when parked in your own driveway.
Residents observing any suspicious activity are asked to contact police headquarters at 732-928-1111 to report it so officers can be dispatched to investigate.
