Jackson man who ran a meth lab out of his truck pleads guilty
A Jackson man who was operating his own meth lab out of the truck he was driving has plead guilty and will spend the next five years in prison.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced that Michael Canto, 41, plead guilty to Maintaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance Production Facility in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-4.
At the time of his sentencing on April 3, 2020, the State will be looking for a term of five years in New Jersey State Prison with a two-year period of parole ineligibility for Canto.
The Jackson man was arrested on July 31, 2019, as part of an investigation into illegal drug activity in the township area.
Police then performed a lawful stop of a motorcycle operated by Canto.
As a result of the stop, Canto was found to be in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine and placed under arrest.
Jackson Police then obtained a search warrant for a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck owned by Canto.
Detective's with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police Hazardous Materials Recovery Unit then found evidence indicating that Canto was operating a Methamphetamine production facility out of the truck.
