One New Jersey Town Has Just 9 Residents
If someone asked you to name some popular cities in New Jersey, what would you say?
It's probably easy to guess that places like Newark, Trenton, New Brunswick, Atlantic City, and Cape May would come to mind.
But what about places like Hi-Nella, Interlaken, or Shiloh? Could you even find those towns on a map?
New Jersey's Largest Cities by Population
Consider this: here are the five largest cities by population in the Garden State:
- Newark - 311,500
- Jersey City - 292,500
- Paterson - 160,000
- Elizabeth - 137,000
- Lakewood Twp. - 135,000
That's more than one million people in those five spots.
In stark comparison, New Jersey's smallest town has a total of nine people living in it.
Yeah, nine.
The Least-populated Towns in New Jersey
We recently took a look at some population statistics and came up with a list of the 30 municipalities in New Jersey that have the smallest populations.
And if you think deep South Jersey dominates this list, you'd be wrong. There are sparsely populated places from one end of this state to the other.
Some of these places are barely more than a handful of homes. Others stretch for miles with practically no neighbors.
