A Philly-bound train riding along the Atlantic City Rail Line hit and killed a pedestrian that was on the tracks Monday.

The tragic incident happened Monday morning approximately 5:40 a.m. just seven minutes before AC Rain Line Train #4608 was due to complete its one hour and 36 minutes trip from Atlantic City to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.

The pedestrian was reportedly struck on or near the 2100 block of Wheatleaf Street in Philly, according to 6abc.com, and did not survive.

6abc's Chopper 6 was over the scene near Delair Bridge this morning.

Train service has been suspended between Cherry Hill, NJ and Philadelphia as an investigation continues. However, New Jersey Transit rail passes are being honored by NJ Transit buses as well as PATCO rail line, 6abc.com reports.
