According to multiple reports online, including a report from 6ABC Philadelphia, two piers in Wildwood had to be evacuated for unrelated incidents on Saturday night.

The 6ABC report quotes police sources as saying that one of the incidents involved a "man with a gun."

The report says, the suspect was arrested and there were no injuries.

An unrelated incident earlier in the evening on the beach, caused a second pier to be evacuated.

Both piers were reopened after the incidents.

Wildwood and the Jersey Shore have been in the spotlight for various incidents early in the summer of the 2024 season.

Social media was abuzz this evening with speculation and questions about the details of the incidents.

The North Wildwood Police Department posted a statement on their Facebook page,

The North Wildwood Police Department is aware of an incident occurring in our jurisdiction circulating on social media. The incident resulted in an increase of law enforcement personnel in the area of Moreys Pier to include evacuation of the pier.

We wanted to be abundantly cautious about how we report this.

Although there were many comments on social, we have been unable to get verification as to the veracity of the reports.

We contacted the department for clarification and confirmation, but they refused to comment at this time.
