These Are Some Of Weirdest Town Names In New Jersey And America
There are unusual town names all over New Jersey, and a national website has revealed their choice for the weirdest town name in New Jersey.
It turns out that when it comes to weird town names, New Jersey really gets outdone by just about every other state in the nation.
Before we get into the story behind the weirdest town name in New Jersey, let's check out some of the weirdest names in other states, according to House Beautiful.
Some of these are really funny and others are just plain weird. Take, for example, Tightwad, Missouri. This town was named after an incident between a store owner and a postman where somebody got robbed.
Then there is Hell, Michigan. While there is no official story on the origin of the name, we know that with a name like that, the property value has to suffer, and so does the tourism industry.
And what about Monkey's Eyebrow, Kentucky? No, we didn't make that up. If you look at the town from a hill it looks like a, well, you get it.
We can't resist. Let's do one more before we get to the Garden State. Have you heard of Slickpoo, Idaho. Shame on the town council for not putting "name change" on next month's agenda. I guess they didn't because the town is named after a generous man who provided land for a church.
So what about New Jersey? The article says the title of the weirdest town name in the Garden State goes to Loveladies, which was named after Thomas Lovelady. That's a nice honor, but it's definitely not as funny a name as Lizard Lick, North Carolina.
