Iconic New Jersey Shore Tavern Sold Leaving Locals Nervous
For more than two decades, this Jersey Shore watering hole has been one of those places you just assume will always be there. A year-round Shore restaurant and bar that locals leaned on in the off-season and packed out all summer long. The kind of place where bartenders know your order, families celebrate milestones, and visitors come back to every year.

Now, that chapter is coming to a close. Or at least turning the page.
The family behind one of the Shore's most beloved taverns announced that after 21 years, they have officially sold the business. The rumors of this transaction had been swirling for quite some time. But you panic, one thing has been made very clear. Unlike other bars and restaurants in Jersey that have been sold, this is not turning into condos. No luxury units. No construction fences. No losing another piece of Shore character.
A Jersey Shore Staple Changes Hands
In a heartfelt message shared online, the owners of Fitzpatrick's Crest Tavern in Wildwood Crest said this decision was emotional but necessary. After more than two decades of seven day weeks, holidays spent working, and countless memories made with the community, it was time to pass the torch.
The good news is that the torch is staying local. The restaurant has been sold to another local family who plans to keep the tradition alive. Same location. Same purpose. Same role in the neighborhood.
The outgoing owners even joked that they are happy you will not have to stare at more condos, which, honestly, might be the most Jersey Shore line of all.

What Happens Next
The current owners will serve their final meals and drinks on Sunday, January 18. After that, the restaurant will briefly close before reopening on Friday under new ownership. The new owners have not yet been publicly named, but the message was clear: they care deeply about the community.
The family wrapped things up by thanking everyone who walked through the doors over the years, saying it was never just a business but a huge part of their lives.
