The JBJ Soul Kitchen in Downtown Toms River has been open for a few months now, serving the community and helping those who need a hot meal.

And now that the government is in full shutdown mode, the JBJ Soul Kitchen is once again stepping up to the plate to help families in need.

With the government shutdown in full effect, it means a lot of workers are either being furloughed or they're expected to show up to work without pay until the shutdown is resolved.

For families that are already living paycheck to paycheck, this is a huge hit, especially when it comes to keeping food on the table.

Free Meals for Families Affected by the Shutdown

The JBJ Soul Kitchen is now offering free meals to families who have members who are currently furloughed or are working without pay while the government is shut down.

If you are a family in need, you can go to any three JBJ Soul Kitchen locations for a free, sit-down style meal.

According to Patch, here's where you need to go.

Red Bank: 207 Monmouth Street, Wednesday to Friday between 5 PM and 7 PM, with lunch on Fridays between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

Toms River: 1769 Hooper Avenue, Wednesday to Friday between 5 PM and 7 PM, with lunch on Fridays between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

Ocean County Library: 101 Washington Street, Toms River, Tuesday to Friday between 10 AM and 2 PM

Meals are on a pay-what-you-can basis, and if you can't pay, then the meal is free, thanks to this non-profit organization helping NJ residents in need.
