(7) CBA 44, (23) Matawan 43 | Watch

Sophomore Justin Fuerbacher scored a game-high 15 points and the Colts (13-7) held on to edge the Huskies (13-10) and reach the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals Saturday at Middletown South.

CBA took a 28-20 halftime lead with a 17-6 run during the second quarter and never trailed in the second half, but also could not shake off Matawan. The Huskies cut an 11-point deficit to 31-27 with a 7-0 run keyed by sophomore Amir Martinez -- who scored five points during the run and nine for the game -- closed a 43-37 gap to 44-43 and had a shot to win the game in the final seconds.

Matawan senior Colin Haluska, who matched sophomore Chauncey Brown with a team-high 13 points, got off a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer, but it missed the mark and allowed CBA to advance.

Senior Will Bradley added 14 points and junior Peter Noble poured in eight for CBA, which will get another shot at second-seeded St. Rose on Saturday at 11 a.m. St. Rose beat CBA this past Saturday, 59-51, in a game that was tight throughout.

(11) Ranney 61, (6) Jackson Memorial 55 | Watch

Junior Drew Buck led a balanced offensive performance by Ranney with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals and the Panthers (14-9) topped the Jaguars (17-6) on the road to reach the quarterfinals of the Shore Conference postseason for the seventh time in eight seasons -- including the unofficial tournament of 2021.

Senior Isaac Hester scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half to go with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals, while sophomore MeSean Williams connected for 11 points on three three-pointers.

Senior Jahlil Bethea chipped in 13 points and three assists and was the defensive standout for Ranney, collecting four steals and hounding Jackson Memorial standout senior Samir Padilla, who finished with 11 points.

Senior Charlie Meglio led Jackson Memorial with 14 points and nine rebounds, while senior Keith Adame threw in 12 points on four three-pointers.

Ranney moves on to Saturday's SCT quarterfinals and will take on No. 3 Toms River North in hopes of reaching the official conference semifinals for the first time since winning the second of two straight tournaments in 2019. Ranney was also among the final four of the Shore Conference playoffs in the COVID-shortened 2021 season.

(9) Rumson-Fair Haven 68, (8) Freehold Twp. 59 | Watch

Senior Nick Rigby scored a team-high 19 points and the Bulldogs (17-5) rode a strong second half to a win over the Patriots (17-4) in the conference quarterfinals for the second straight year.

Sophomore Luke Schorr added 17 points and senior Mason Yablonski poured in 13 of his 15 in the second half, and sophomore Davey Carr added  eight of his 14 during the second half, during which Rumson outscored Freehold Township, 41-31, to pull away.

Rumson closed out the game by going 13-for-18 from the free-throw line during the fourth quarter.

Senior Malachi Harris led Freehold Township with 25 points, five assists and four steals and sophomore Nick Cardone added 10. Rumson senior Luke Mikolajczyk, meanwhile, led a defensive effort that limited Freehold Township standout Jayden Holmes-Cotter to 12 points.

Rumson moves on to face No. 1 Manasquan in Saturday's quarterfinal at Middletown South -- the first meeting between the Group II rivals since the 2020 Central Jersey Group II championship game. Manasquan and Rumson met three times that season -- all Manasquan wins -- but have not played since.

(3) Toms River North 50, (19) Shore 45

Junior Micah Ford scored a game-high 20 points and the Mariners (18-5) fought off a challenge from the Blue Devils (15-5) to advance to the SCT quarterfinals for the sixth time in eight years and first time since 2020.

Junior Owen Baker poured in 13 points and senior Delani Hyde pitched in nine points and eight rebounds for Toms River North. Junior Tareq Council also contributed six points and eight boards in the win.

Senior Liam Gajewski scored 14 points and junior Joe Santi added 12 for Shore, which led Toms River North after a quarter and cut the Mariners lead to 44-42 with two minutes left after trailing for the entire second half. Senior Donovan Hughes also added eight points on a pair of three-pointers in the loss.

Toms River North will take on No. 11 Ranney at 12:45 p.m. Saturday in the SCT quarterfinals at Middletown South.

(4) Raritan 45, Red Bank Catholic 36 | Watch

Senior Billy Tigar scored 16 points and the Rockets held the Caseys (13-11) without a field goal over the final 8:40 to nail down a round-of-16 win, punching Raritan (19-1) its first ticket to the SCT quarterfinals since winning the tournament in 2012.

Senior Mike Diller added 10 points and classmate Jack O'Leary chipped in nine for Raritan, which fell behind, 7-3, before outscoring RBC, 19-7, over the remainder of the second half.

The Caseys cut the deficit to as little as one multiple times in the second half, but never pulled even and could not muster any offense outside of the free-throw line for the final quarter-and-change.

Junior Tyler Burnham led Red Bank Catholic with 13 points and sophomore Sean Saxton chipped in eight in the loss.

Raritan will play Central in Saturday's fourth SCT quarterfinal game at Middletown South -- a rematch of a 49-48 Raritan win in triple overtime at Central in early January.

(12) Central 55, (5) Middletown South 52 | Watch

Sophomore Jaycen Santucci led a balanced attack with 15 points and the Golden Eagles (18-5) snapped a 15-game winning streak by the Eagles (15-5) to advance to the SCT quarterfinals for the first time since 1994.

Junior Jordan Barbot added 14 points and senior John Truhan handed out six assists for Central, which overcame a 16-6 first-quarter deficit to take a 39-33 lead into the fourth quarter.

Senior Dylan Csik led Middletown South with 18 points and six assists, while senior Pat Brown added 11 points in the loss.

Central will get another shot at Raritan in the SCT quarterfinals Saturday at Middletown South after losing to the Rockets in triple-overtime in early January. The Golden Eagles will be seeking their first ever trip to the Shore Conference semifinals.

(1) Manasquan 65, (16) Southern 48

Sophomore Darius Adams scored 19 of his game-high 30 points in the second half and the Warriors (19-4) broke open what was a six-point game at the half to beat the Rams (13-10), securing a spot in the Shore Conference quarterfinals for a 12th straight season.

Junior Ryan Frauenheim added 18 points and senior Jack Dettlinger chipped in 11 for Manasquan, which outscored Southern, 29-16, in the third quarter to turn a 26-20 game at the half into a 55-36 lead heading to the fourth.

Senior Tom Menegus led Southern with 17 points, while junior Caden Schubiger added 12 and senior Pat Gaffney netted nine in the loss.

Manasquan till take on No. 9 Rumson-Fair Haven Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the SCT quarterfinals at Middletown High School South.

(2) St. Rose 70, (15) Point Boro 28 | Watch

Junior Gio Panzini led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points and the Purple Roses (20-2) handled the Panthers (14-7) to earn a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals for the first time in 10 years.

Junior Matt Hodge added 12 points and sophomore Peter Mauro netted 10 for St. Rose, which will take on CBA for the second straight Saturday when the two teams clash Saturday morning at Middletown South in the first SCT quarterfinal.

Senior Shane Ryan led Point Boro with a game-high 14 points.

Non-Division

Howell 64, Freehold Boro 40

The trio of D.J. Orloff, Damien Padilla and Chris Meehan combined for 54 points and the Rebels rolled to a win over the Colonials.

Orloff scored a game-high 19 points, Padilla poured in 18 and Meehan posted 17 to lead Howell.

Senior Mike Bisaha led Freehold Boro with nine points.

Asbury Park 74, Long Branch 49

Senior Shaborn Goodman scored a career-high 29 points and the Blue Bishops raced past the Green Wave. Senior Davon Foster also poured in 19 points and junior Jai'Sun Brown pitched in 13 points for Asbury Park.

Keyport 49, Toms River East 38

Sophomore Nas Hart returned from a hip injury that kept him out since December and was one of three Keyport players to score 12 points in a Red Raiders win over the Raiders.

Senior Terrek Mimes and junior Mike Ford also scored 12 points apiece for Keyport, while junior Steven Scorsone led Toms River East with a game-high 14 points.

Brick 54, Wall 50

Junior Nick Verdesco scored 15 points and senior Alex Jenkoski chipped in 14 as the Green Dragons toppled the Crimson Knights. Senior Brandon Farber also posted eight points and 16 rebounds for Brick.

 

Non-Conference

Steinert 50, Jackson Liberty 46

Junior Dylan Teopaco scored 15 points and sophomore Jayson King added 12, but the Lions dropped a tight road game against the Spartans.
