I enjoy my neighborhood. I really do. I've talked before about how much I love the fact that Ocean County has so many great places to get close to nature. But I'm pretty sure that something weird is living in the woods next to my house. In fact I'm pretty sure it's the Jersey Devil.

I'm only half joking here.

I've written before about my experiences at Summer camp, and my love for nature and being near the woods. I'm not afraid of being out alone and I've seen plenty of critters in my time. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I can usually identify the sounds you hear in nature (did you know that possums actually make pretty scary hissing sounds?).

That being said though, for the life of me I can't identify the sounds occasionally coming from the woods next to my house late at night (pictured above)

It's not the bizarre sound that a cat in heat makes.

Foxes make pretty odd sounds. If you're not familiar that can be really weird.

But it's not any of those. I honestly have no idea what it is. Even my dog sometimes lifts her head up when the windows are open with that "what the heck is that?" look.

Do you have anything weird going on in your neighborhood? Have you ever seen or heard anything you couldn't identify? Tell us about it in the comments section!
