One of my favorite musicals of all time is coming to the big screen. Yeah, ‘Kinky Boots, The Musical’ will be playing at theaters in Hamilton, Moorestown, Langhorne, and more later this month.

The show actually JUST closed (April 7) after a very successful run on Broadway and on London’s West End. The musical, which was written by legendary playwright Harvey Weinstein. The show’s music and lyrics were written by Cyndi Lauper.

The play (which actually originated as a movie in 2005) was inspired by true events.

In the play, we meet the factory owner, Charlie Price, who is struggling to save his family’s shoe business. By chance, Charlie meets Lola -- a fabulous drag queen who performs in cabarets -- who has an outrageous idea to save the business.

The show’s story is uplifting and the music is incredibly fun. I was lucky enough to see the show on Broadway several times and still can get lost in the show when I'm listening to the soundtrack.

The movie version of the musical was filmed at the Adelphia Theatre in London. The two-night-only screenings will take place at about 500 movie theaters nationwide June 25 and June 29.

It won't be showing in Ocean or Monmouth counties, but you can see it on the screen not too far away.
