What a treat to see Kinky Boots on Broadway over the weekend.  If you haven't seen it, here's what you might want to know.

The stage show was inspired by a movie about a shoe factory in England which was about to go under.  Then a chance meeting between a drag queen and the company owner brought a new product to the factory and new life to the struggling community.  It's a show that deals with friendship, love, and accepting people as they truly are.

Did you know Cyndi Lauper composed the music and wrote the lyrics for Kinky Boots? The show won a Tony Award for Best Score, Best Musical, and several other categories.

It's a fun night at the theatre with heartwarming ballads and high-energy numbers that will have you dancing in your seat.

If you hurry, you can see Wayne Brady as "Lola."  The "Let's Make A Deal" host is sheer perfection in this role, conveying a complex character with guts, glamour, and gloriously funny one-liners.  Not to mention diva-licious dance moves!   Want to get a glimpse?  Here's a short video promo:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQe5jySdUko&feature=youtu.be

I'm not a fan of driving in Manhattan so it's great that the NJ Transit bus from Toms River is available.  It takes less than 90 minutes, on average, and leaves you right in the theatre district so you can see Kinky Boots or any of the other Broadway plays you might be interested in.

What's the best NYC show you've seen recently?  What's the next one you're hoping to catch?
