Here Are The Halloween Parade & Trick Or Treat Rain Plans
UPDATE - 10/31 9 a.m. - As of this update, the Toms River Volunteer Fire Company #1 has said that the 81st Annual Toms River Halloween Parade will run as scheduled tonight, Thursday, October 31st.
Original story follows
With the huge 2019 Toms River Halloween Parade coming up on Thursday, and Toms River encouraging trick or treating on Wednesday, a wet forecast could throw some of those plans into disarray.
We reached out to Toms River officials to get information on both.
Here's the latest that we have heard from both Toms River Volunteer Fire Company #1 and the Township of Toms River:
What happens to trick or treat if it rains on Wednesday?
Because of the Halloween parade traditionally being on Halloween itself, the Township of Toms River has encouraged trick or treating the night before, on October 30th, so everyone can attend the parade and also enjoy trick or treating.
Toms River's Public Information Officer Stacy Georgaklis tells us that trick or treat for Toms River will remain on Wednesday, October 30th.
As of right now at least, Wednesday is looking like the drier of the two days.
What happens to the parade if it rains on Halloween?
If Halloween is a soaker, the rain date for the Toms River Halloween Parade is Friday, November 1st, 2019.
When will an official determination be made about the Halloween Parade?
Toms River Volunteer Fire Company #1, who runs the parade, has publicly stated that they will make the call on the parade on the morning of Thursday, October 31st:
Right now, we could be in for a wet Halloween, at least to start, with the forecast as of this writing (on Tuesday afternoon) calling for a steady rain to start the day with showers becoming more scattered by the afternoon and evening.
We'll of course keep you updated on the latest, and if any official announcements are made about whether the Toms River Halloween Parade will be postponed or will run as scheduled, we'll share that information with you.
