Expect More Rain Through Wednesday

Another round of thunderstorms will affect New Jersey for the ride home with more rain expected for Wednesday.

Flash flood warnings have been issued for parts of Ocean & Monmouth counties The entire state is getting rain which is from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac which drenched the south & midwest last week.

A Tornado Warning had been issued for southern Burlington and Ocean counties until 3:45PM. A strong thunderstorm capable of forming a tornato was detected on radar 24 miles southwest of Toms River.

The National Weather Service Facebook page reports an inch-and-a-half of rain fell on Tuesday afternoon in a short amount of time along the Delaware River.

The National Weather Service says 2 to 4 more inches may fall in those affected areas by the end of Wednesday.

Earlier this morning intense thunderstorms with heavy rain jolted residents out of bed in Mercer, Ocean & Burlington counties early Tuesday morning.

A line of storms along the Delaware River drop 1-2 inches of rain prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flash Flood Warning.

Another intense area affected Ocean & Burlington counties with 4-5 inches of heavy rain and a Flash Flood Warning was issued for that area as well. The NWS reports on their Facebook page a large area of 5 inches or greater from north of New Gretna to Warren Grove to south of Bamber Lake and flooding along Route 72.

A spotter posted 5 inches of rain in Bayville.

The heavy rains also caused closures on Roue 35 in Lavalette and Point Pleasant and on Route 88 in Point Pleasant.
