Toms River Faces A Must Win Game Today at the Little League Softball World Series

So Sunday, I made sure I had the TV on ESPN 2 so I would not miss the opening game of the Little League Softball World Series. I'm glad I had the game on early because, unless I had the wrong time, it started early. I thought game one was at 1 pm in Greenville, North Carolina, but it started early at around 12:30 ish? I assume they got going a bit earlier to avoid the forecasted rain.

Unfortunately for the Toms River Softball Little League team, the early start did not help with the rain, and if you were watching Sunday, you saw a rain delay.

Toms River, winners of the Mid-Atlantic Region, took on the Asia-Pacific winners from Japan, and this would prove to be a tough test for the girls from TR.

Toms River had a bumpy start, but all in all it was a close, tough battle. Japan is a good team with strong pitching and a defense that was solid. Toms River kept it close but fell as Japan won 4-1. It was a good game, and now the TR Girls must win to stay in the tournament.

When Does Toms River Play Next At The Little League Softball World Series?

Toms River will play the representative from the New England division today (Tuesday, August 4th) in Greenville, North Carolina.

The TR Girls take on Bristol, Connecticut today at 1 pm and can be seen on ESPN 2. It's a must-win for both teams. Bristol lost its first game to the Central Division representative from Kentucky 15-1. By the way, Japan lost its second game after beating Toms River to Latin America on Monday 7-2.
