The charging station will be at the town hall, the first one in Berkeley, at 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road in Bayville. According to the patch.com, the closest ones to Berkeley are in Forked River and Toms River.

Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato says, "There's a lot of incentive out there for green vehicles and we were pleased we got this grant. Not only will this be available for use for township vehicles...It's also available for anybody who needs a quick charge on their way around, so it'll be available to the public as well." The charging station will be available this spring, sometime.

Berkeley township received a grant to add a charging station for the township at the town hall. The charging station will be free and open to the public.

The grant called "It Pays to Plug In" was given by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).

The charger will allow two electric cars to charge at once. New Jersey DEP is providing grants to help townships with the cost to purchase and install charging stations. Electric cars are "becoming" more and more popular, NJDEP says, "Electric vehicles reduce greenhouse gases and improve air quality."
