We are getting our green ready because we are less than a month away from the fantastic annual St.Patrick's Day Parade in beautiful Belmar, New Jersey in Monmouth County. We are really looking forward to the event once again this year!

So this year I will personally be doing something for the parade that I never have done before. It's surprising considering my deep Irish and Scotch heritage. Coming up at the Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade I will be getting into my first ever "kilt".

Just a few of the many comments, but as you can see the overwhelming response was "YES" so I am gonna have my "kilt" for the big parade in Belmar, should be fun and fantastic photos along the parade route!

The Annual Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade takes place Sunday, March 5th, 2023. According to their website "The parade committee is pleased to announce that the Grand Marshal for our 50th parade in 2023 is Chip Cavanagh, our chairman. Chip was selected by our executive committee to be the sole GM on this special anniversary due to his dedication and many years of service to the parade. In 2024, the parade shall return to having 2 GM’s – one male and one female."

According to their story "In 1974, for the first time, men and women of the Jersey Shore joined together and marched up Main Street in honor of Saint Patrick. Formed and led by the newly formed Jerry Lynch Club, the parade was intended to be a showcase for the “Irish Riviera.” Entertained by marchers, bands, and a lot of fire engines, crowds lined the streets early on in this parade. Within four years the parade was developing rapidly and attractive statewide attention. Marchers were numbering close to a thousand and the crowds kept growing. By 1981, the railroad added special trains on parade day to accommodate the ever-growing number of spectators from North Jersey and New York."

Here we are 49 years later and it's still a great day for the Irish in Monmouth County at the Annual Belmar St. Patrick's Day Parade. Look for us, and my kilt, Sunday March 5th :)

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
