Get Ready For The Geminid Meteor Showers Over New Jersey This Week
If You are a stargazer who enjoys taking some time to simply enjoy a view of our skies and what may be available to observe this time of year, then you may be in for a treat (weather permitting) in the skies over New Jersey.
If the weather is good and the skies are clear I will go out and take a view of the sky and maybe even grab the camera and snap a few shots of the view from above. I don't need a huge telescope to enjoy the clear beauty of the evening sky. Just take some time to look up and look around.
According to Patch, "Weather permitting in New Jersey, stargazers will be rewarded with what is regarded as the best meteor shower of the year, the Geminids, which fire off at a rate of about 120 shooting stars an hour during the Wednesday night and Thursday morning peak."
Currently, the weather for tonight is calling for clear skies and cold temps with lows in the upper 20s. Thursday night looks pretty good with lows in the mid-20s. So obviously if you are gonna stargaze, be sure to bundle up.
According to Patch, "The best views of the Geminid meteor shower are around 2 a.m. local time on Thursday when the shower’s radiant point — the constellation Gemini — is at its highest point in the sky."
