Four New Jersey men arraigned after committing armed robbery at gas station

There are four New Jersey men who appeared in court for the first time at their arraignment this week after being charged for their roles in an armed robbery at a gas station.

The charges and details of the gas station armed robbery have been announced by U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.

It was December 15, 2019, when two masked men robbed a gas station in Cranford and when the crime was committed, they hopped into a car driven by a co-conspirator and the 4th man involved stayed behind -- as he was the inside man.

Attorney Sellinger said that the two men who robbed the gas station on foot were later identified as 24-year-old Wiggins Cadet of Roselle and 23-year-old Zyquan McCray of Linden who teamed together in phase one of the robbery as Cadet pointed a gun at the two attendants there while McCray stole the cash.

Cadet and McCray then got into a vehicle being driven at the time by 23-year-old Khalil Brown of Roselle and Attorney Sellinger said that investigators working the case learned that 27-year-old Tyrone Crutchfield-Davis of Linden was one of the gas station attendants where the robbery occurred and he was in fact involved in orchestrating the crime.

Following their eventual arrests, Cadet, Brown, McCray, and Crutchfield-Davis were later charged in a five-count superseding indictment, according to Attorney Sellinger, with one count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit a Hobbs Act robbery, which could lead to up to 20-years in prison.

Cadet, McCray, and Crutchfield-Davis have also been charged with one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and one count of conspiracy to brandish a firearm during a crime of violence.

Attorney Sellinger said that Cadet is also charged with one count of possession of a firearm as a previously convicted felon, but that all four defendants "entered pleas of not guilty."

He added, "the brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence carries a maximum potential penalty of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in prison, which must run consecutively to any other prison term. The possession of a firearm by a convicted felon carries a maximum potential penalty of 10 years in prison. Each count also carries a fine of up to $250,000 or twice the gain or loss from the offense, whichever is greatest." 

The government in this case is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Camila A. Garces of the General Crimes Unit in Newark, according to Attorney Sellinger, and for the defense:
