Former Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden visits Ocean County
Regarded as a hero for killing terrorist and Al-Qaeda leader Usama Bin Laden on May 2, 2011, former Navy Seal Robert O'Neill spent the weekend before the 9/11 anniversary in Ocean County for a library program.
O’Neill appeared at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library on September 8 as part of the library’s 2018 James J. Mancini Memorial Author Program sponsored by the Ocean County Library Foundation and the Jay & Linda Grunin Foundation.
He is The New York Times Best Selling author of the memoir “The Operator: Firing the Shots That Killed Osama bin Laden and My Years as a SEAL Team Warrior.”
O’Neill is one of the nation’s most decorated veterans, with more than 52 times honors to his name, including two Silver Stars, four Bronze Stars with Valor, a Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, three Presidential Unit citations, and two Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals with Valor.
On Saturday, The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders presented a Freeholder Proclamation to Robert O’Neill, a former SEAL Team Six Leader, and the Freeholders commended him for his service to our nation.
