Fisherman’s Cove dog beach decision due Tuesday
Controversy over a plan to scale back dog-beach hours for the summer at Fisherman's Cove in Manasquan will likely reach a climax Tuesday night at Thompson Park in Lincroft.
The Board of Commissioners is expected to return to a previously-tabled vote on the move which, they say, would give families without pets time to enjoy the beach and its amenities.
Dog owners, accustomed to letting their pets loose for romps in the water at any time, bristled over the proposal that would allow unfettered access for them before 10 AM and after 4 PM daily through Labor Day.
Park commissioners counter that the directive applies only to the beach, and that rest of the preserve remains accessible.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 PM in the Thompson Park Visitors' Center.
