A fire broke out at Piner Elementary School in Lakewood on Friday evening, causing significant damage. Authorities said the blaze was reported around 7:30 p.m. at the East County Line Road campus and remains under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to a recent Patch article, "The three-alarm fire prompted a mutual aid response from several towns, including Brick, Toms River, Point Pleasant, Jackson, Howell, and Wall Township, the report said."
The fire remains under investigation by the New Jersey State Fire Marshal's Office, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Lakewood Police, and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad.
