Labor Day Weekend is often called the “unofficial” end of summer at the Jersey Shore because it’s the last big holiday when crowds pack the beaches, boardwalks, and bars before things quiet down.

After this weekend, schools are back in session, seasonal businesses start closing or reducing hours, and the summer tourists head home. While the weather can still feel like summer, the busy, vacation vibe of the Shore slows down, marking the shift into the off-season.

Most of the college-age kids have left town and have headed back to campus as the college fall semester is ready to start.
