A Cape Coral,Florida resident lost control of a vehicle he was driving and slammed into the garage of a Toms River home.

Frank Laspina, 62, was driving his mother's 2003 Buick on Oak Ridge Parkway when he lost control of it Friday afternoon.

Laspina's Buick reportedly left the roadway, drove through some trees at 159 Sun Valley Rd., traveled behind the stopped patrol vehicle drove and up the driveway to the residence where it slammed through the garage striking a 1967 Cadillac parked inside.

Nearby, officers Larry DiFabio and Brian Dugan were in their marked patrol car sitting at Sun Valley Road and Oakridge Parkway. The officers reported hearing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Toms River Fire Companies responded to the accident due to a gas leak that was caused by the accident. Mr. Laspina was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune Township.

 

The accident is still under investigation.
