Driver and passenger escape jeep that catches fire in car accident
Only one minor injury came from a head-on collision in Wall Township that led to a jeep flipping over and catching fire on Belmar Boulevard Wednesday around 5:53 pm.
Police say the Jeep Wrangler was heading west toward the parkway entrance when a Ford Escape, driven by a 47-year old woman from Wall, turned left directly in front of them causing the Jeep to flip over before it came to a rest in front of a utility pole and caught fire.
The fire was extinguished by the Glendola Fire Department and all occupants of the vehicle were safely out.
An investigation revealed that a Jeep Wrangler was being operated by a 17-year old male from Farmingdale and occupied by a 16-year old female of Freehold who was the front seat passenger.
There was one minor injury reported and that person was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Wall EMS.
Patrolman Zach Honecker is investigating the accident.
