The reason I am writing this article is because of something that I saw on Tik Tok....I know, of course.

But the platform really does have a lot of useful information.

But First: I want to preface this piece by saying that please keep your judgmental comments to yourself.

You don't know people's back stories or personal problems and if someone thinks that their baby is better off being surrendered, that is their call....not yours.

Okay....let's get started.

While scrolling, I stumbled upon this video posted by @SafeHavenBabyBoxes and it got me thinking that I need to make sure that I do everything in my power to get this information out to the masses.

First let's address what "Safe Haven" is:

According to NJSafeHaven.org, "It's a law: the New Jersey Safe Haven Infant Protection Act.  Under this law a person may give up an unwanted infant anonymously.  As long as the baby has not been abused, the person may do so without fear of arrest or prosecution."

The goal of this law is to avoid infants being, "harmed or killed from unsafe abandonment."

First, the infant has to be 30 days or younger

Second, you can complete the drop off without revealing your name or any other information as long as the baby is healthy and seems to have been well-cared for and not abused.

Third, you don't have to be the baby's parent to complete the drop off and you do not have to call ahead of time.

Locations that offer Safe Haven services are hospitals, police stations, fire stations, ambulance, first aid squads, and rescue squads that are open 24/7 so the infant can be immediately cared for.

If you have any questions, you can call the Safe Haven Hotline at 1-877-839-2339. They will help you decide where to drop off your infant or even help you reunite with your baby in the future if you decide to do so.

If you CLICK HERE, you will see the full map of Safe Haven locations at the Jersey Shore...and there are A LOT to choose from.

This is a screenshot that I took at NJSafeHaven.org just to give you an idea...there are options out there.

Listen....if this article applies to you, I hope you use all of this information to the best of your abilities.

I don't know you, I don't know what you've been through and neither does anyone else.

You do what is best for you and your baby and if you think that is to utilize these Safe Haven services, then you do what you have to do.

I am just here to pass this useful information along. Good luck out there.
