Distressed Swimmer Rescued Off Sandy Hook
Lifeguards have come to the aid of a distressed swimmer in waters off Sandy Hook.
Officials say the 62-year-old man had been swimming about 30 yards out in the ocean on Sunday afternoon when the lifeguards at Area D of Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook noticed he had suddenly stopped.
The man, whose name was not disclosed, was conscious when he was pulled from the water around 12:30 p.m. He was taken to a hospital, but further details on his condition were not disclosed.
