Delivery truck driver rescued after getting lost in the woods
The driver of a food delivery truck from a local establishment was rescued by first responders along Morey Place Road and Wells Mills Road Tuesday in Ocean Township.
Police said that the driver parked his vehicle and attempted to make a delivery on foot at a home set back from Wells Mills Road but became lost along a dirt trail.
Firefighters from the Waretown Fire Company and members of the Waretown First Aid Squad searched the wooded area until they found the man five-hours after he had gone missing.
He was found safe several miles from his vehicle and was then brought to a medical facility for an evaluation after being exposed to the cold and wet weather.
Ocean Township Police extended thanks to their fellow first responders following the rescue.
"On behalf of the Ocean Township Police Department we would like to thank all those who assisted in the search for the victim. Locating him was a true team effort. Thank you Waretown First Aid Squad and Waretown Fire Company! Great Job!"
