Christie To Deliver GOP Convention Keynote Address

Multiple sources say that Governor Chris Christie will deliver the keynote address at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Still unclear is whether Christie is delivering the keynote address of the convention prior to likely nominee Mitt Romney delivering his acceptance speech or on another night.

NBCNews.com reports that the Republican National Convention has not yet issued an itinerary for the convention.

Longtime New Jersey reporter Josh Margolin, now with the New York Post, reports that Christie will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday night, August 28. The convention runs Monday, August 27 through Thursday, August 30.

The assignment also means that Christie will likely not be Romney’s vice presidential nominee.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Texas Senator and presidential candidate Ron Paul will not address the convention.

Christie had long been rumored to be delivering the keynote address but political observers say that Chrisie’s firely delivery style could overshadow Romney’s more laid back style.

The address is seen in political circles as important in launching national political careers or honoring important members of a political party.

Barack Obama delivered the keynote for the Democrats in 2004; Rudy Giuliani delivered the GOP keynote in 2008.
