Governor Chris Christie took the New Jersey Comeback message to the west coast in a speech to the Hoover Institution at California’s Stamford Institute.

The Governor talked about how his basic principles of leadership such as basic principles such as “being honest, not mincing words, and tackling big and difficult issues” have made the comeback a success he wants to bring to a national level.

Although he didn’t mention the “Jersey Comeback” by name, Christie said he is proud of his administration’s accomplishments regarding New Jersey’s economy and employment, tax, and pension issues, he emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum both on a state and on a national level according to the Hoover Institution. Furthermore, he is confident New Jersey will set the example for the nation.

Christie also expressed concern for the long term implication of the nation’s debt. “America will always be admired for its freedom, its liberty and its economic power,” he told the conservative organization. “We are whittling away at that economic power and we are whittling away our influence around the world because of our unwillingness and our inability to get own affairs in order. If we do not step up to the plate now, America’s role in the world will be diminished.”

He said the “sideshow” issues of contraception, the wealth of the candidates act to distract voters from the important issues.
