These Animals Are Illegal To Barbecue In NJ

It is BBQ season, and folks will be firing up the grills to enjoy a fantastic summer with plenty of delicious food grilled to perfection.

What is your favorite food on the grill? Personally I enjoy a good steak, chicken, and hamburgers and hot dogs. Corn is also a delicious thing to grill.

I never really thought about it, but there are some things you cannot grill in New Jersey. I’m talking about meat, some animals are illegal to grill. When I saw this subject of a recent Patch article, I had to see what “animals are illegal to BBQ”?

According to Patch, there are 9 animals you can’t grill in the Garden State. I’ll be honest I am not a fan of weird meats, so this list is not that odd to me. I wouldn’t grill them anyway lol

The Patch article said, “While it likely never occurred to you to cook up one of the following animals, knowledge is power, friends, and so is staying out of jail.”

9 Animals You Cannot Grill in New Jersey

1. Horse

2. Dog

3. Owl

4. Cat

5. Robin

6. Timber Rattlesnake

7. Osprey

8. Bald Eagle

9. Sea Turtle

As you can see not something you’d probably cook but it is illegal in New Jersey to do it.

According to Patch, I found this odd: “New Jersey is one of only seven states that have explicitly banned the slaughter of dogs for consumption.”

What is your favorite thing to grill? Would you even consider one of the illegal animals for grilling? Would you confess that you would?
