
Summer Update: These Items Are Now Banned at New Jersey Beaches in 2025
It is summer, and that means it's beach time in New Jersey, but before you start packing your beach bag and heading out, there are certain items you cannot bring to the beaches here in New Jersey, and some activities you can't do.

Why These Items Didn’t Make the Cut for 2025
So in effect, this is a "Don't's" list for the beaches of Jersey. I do admit a lot of this list is common sense, but as we know, "common sense" is sometimes overlooked for having a good time. Take a look at the list and see what you think. Is there anything on this list you have brought to the beach because you simply didn't know they were banned?
Banned Items At New Jersey Beaches
Keep in mind that each beach municipality may have its own list of prohibited items, and it's always best to contact the town if you have a direct question concerning items at their beach.
- Tents
- Canopies
- Motorized Vehicles: Usually, e-bikes, e-scooters, and mopeds are prohibited
- Alcohol
- Glass Bottles
- Fires: Including open fires, BBQ, and fire pits
- Large Coolers (16-quart capacity or larger)

Activities That Are Banned On New Jersey Beaches
- Littering
- Smoking
- Dogs (Check with your municipality as to their rules regarding dogs on the beach)
- Feeding Seagulls
- Drones

Don’t Get Fined! What’s Now Prohibited at NJ Beaches This Summer
