Bamboozle Goes Smoothly For A Second Day In Asbury Park

Music filled the air as another day of sunshine and warmth made for a second smooth day of the Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park.

Asbury Park City Manager Terence Reidy estimates 50,000 came on Saturday to hear headliners Foo Fighters and My Chemical Romance on the big stage on north beach according to the Asbury Park Press. Reidy was encouraged by the number of attendees who came via NJ Transit or took advantage of a shuttle at Monmouth Park.

Concert goers caused larger than usual traffic on Route 36 heading from the Garden State Parwkay to the track in Oceanport. West Long Branch Police asked those not headed to Monmouth Park to avoid the area. Traffic also built up on Routes 71 and 33 and Asbury Avenue.

Townsquare Media reporter Joel Mahan, an Asbury Park resident, observed that the event continues to be “well organizaed” with well behaved crowds.

The Bamboozle Facebook page said they were “doubling up” on shuttle buses yesterday following complaints about service on Friday. A comment on the page noted that police closed off many streets leading to the boardwalk causing many  to “walk through less than desirable areas in an attempt to connect with their rides.”

The paperless entry system continued to have its issues on Saturday and has entry is not any faster than with traditional tickets according to the Star Ledger.

According to the Bamboozle Facebook page, an after-concert event at the Wonder Bar was cancelled due to a plumbing issue.

For the final day Bon Jovi, the Gaslight Anthem, Brand New, Bayside, Boys Like Girls, Buckcherry, Andrew Dice Clay, the Bouncing Souls, Spacehog, Murphy’s Law will all take the stages; gates open at 2PM.
