Malik I. Mayberry's indictment, returned Thursday, also charges him witeh two weapons possession counts, according to the office of County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.

Investigators allege that in Pemberton's Sunbury Village on May 8, Mayberry strode up to a Lemmon Avenue resident and opened fire, striking his ear with a bullet before the target retreated into his house. The victim was briefly hospitalized at Deborah's Lourdes Emergency Department.

Coffina's office supplied no details regarding the circumstances behind the shooting, nor is there any indication of whether Mayberry has legal representation. Assistant Prosecutor Lisa Commentucci presented the case to the grand jury, based on the findings of an investigative team led by Pemberton Police Detective Thomas Lucas.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
