Atlantic City Police Officers Plead Guilty to Misconduct Charges

Two Atlantic City police officers await January 10 sentencing for official misconduct. Sergeant Richard Halvorson, 42, and Officer Troy Maven, 32, pleaded guilty to third-degree counts, according to information from the office of acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.

Halvorson admitted using a controlled dangerous substance while on duty last February 18. Maven confessed to offering a woman money for sex while on duty last August 17.

Halvorson and Maven accpeted plea agreements and waived their right to grand jury hearings. The deals call for five years' probation and forfeiture of any future public employment in New Jersey.
