New Jersey man heads to prison for possession of child pornography
An Atlantic City man will spend more than 11-years (135 months) in prison after he was sentenced for possession of child porn, according to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.
The sentencing in Camden federal court follows a previous guilty plea to possession of an undisclosed amount of child sexual abuse images.
Cory Newman, 44, of Atlantic City was arrested in May of 2021 after the Department of Homeland Security, DHS Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at his home and found several electronic devices with the lewd pictures and videos of children being sexually abused on them, according to Sellinger.
Following his 11 plus year sentence in prison, Newman will be under 15 years of supervised release.
Attorney Sellinger said that in this case, the government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Johns of the Criminal Division in Camden while the defense counsel for Newman is Lisa Lewis Esq., Assistant Federal Public Defender, Camden.
