Asbury Park will have 1,520 feet of water main installed in the 1800’s replaced
New Jersey American Water has announced a second water main project beginning next week in Monmouth County with 7,500 feet worth being replaced in Howell and now 1,520 in Asbury Park.
There are aging 2- and 6-inch water lines, installed as far back as the late 1800’s, that will be replaced with new 8-inch ductile iron main along Comstock Street from First Avenue to Second Avenue and from Fifth Avenue to the dead end of the street.
One of the fire hydrants and 23 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route will also be replaced.
It's a $490,000 project being administered on the roads by contractor, Montana Construction, Inc. who expects work to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.
They'll be working from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
