Just a few weeks after talks of banning single-use plastic straws heated up at the Jersey Shore, another nearby town is putting the kibosh on single-use plastic bags and more by this time next year.

This week, the Red Bank Town Council unanimously adopted an ordinance that would ban single-use plastic bags as well as styrofoam food containers, and restricts the use of single-use plastic straws.

RedBankGreen.com reports that the ban would kick in by this time next year, in September of 2020.

The ordinance outlaws all single-use plastic bags and styrofoam food containers, and adds a rule to single-use plastic straws, saying that, "All Food Providers may provide drinking straws only upon request of the customer."

Do you think that more towns should adopt similar rules?
