How Does NJ Rank? America's Most DANGEROUS (And Safest) States
If I were to move, the first thing I'd like to know is how safe or dangerous the town/state we are considering moving to is. Let's face it it doesn't matter if they have the most supermarkets or beaches or hospitals, etc. if the town/state is not a safe one. Even if the home prices were significantly lower I would not be interested if the town is dangerous.
This isn't a crazy concept. I think the majority of people would prefer a "safe" neighborhood as opposed to a "dangerous" town. Am I going out on a limb with that statement? No, I think not, people prefer "nice" to "mean".
So let's look at a new survey that ranks all 50 states and rates them from safest to most dangerous where does New Jersey sit in this survey? The data from Love Exploring has some interesting findings and for us in the Garden State, the news is not so bad.
According to the Love Exploring "Safety throughout America is as varied as its landscapes. From bustling cities to quiet rural areas, every state faces its own unique challenges. So, how do they compare? The experts at WalletHub studied the numbers to find out. They looked at 52 key safety factors across all 50 states – from road conditions to emergency preparedness – sorting them into categories like personal safety and financial security. The result? A fascinating ranking of the most dangerous (and safest) states in 2024."
How Safe Is New Jersey?
Good news for the Garden State. In the survey, Jersey ranks as the 16th safest state in America. Vermont ranks as the safest state in America. "New Jersey, known for its iconic beaches, bustling boardwalks, and easy access to New York City, ties with Wyoming for the most law enforcement employees per capita – a clear sign of its commitment to keeping communities secure. It also ties for fourth place in lowest fatal occupational injuries, has a low percentage of uninsured residents, and strong emergency preparedness."
As for the "least" safest state? According to Wallethub, it's Louisiana.
