People had reported seeing an alligator in Mullica Township, but until this week the Jersey "gator" had not been found. In a recent Atlantic City Press article the mystery was solved, when Al Butterhoff reported his dog found the carcass of an alligator.

The Jersey "gator" wasn't a huge alligator like we see in Florida, but it was over 3 feet long! According to officials the gator died from exposure to the cold.

Officials say the gator was most likely illegally owned and was dumped, which was cruel considering the animals inability to deal with New Jersey winter.

Personally I am not a fan of "exotic pets" .... there is a reason they are "exotic" and I think those animals are best left in nature or the care of professionals.
