Update:

Adam Lambert took to Twitter shortly after these reports came out last week to deny that he will be touring with Queen. Word is still circulating that he'll play with the remaining members at England's Sonisphere festival this Summer, but a full fledged tour may not be in the cards. Stay with WOBM for the latest updates!

Previous Story:

Throughout the troubled history of rock music, we've lost some incredible talents, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain come to mind immediately. You also have to include Freddie Mercury in that group, the legendary vocalist of British glam-rock band Queen.

Since Freddie's death in 1991, a number of talented singers have stood in for the famously flamboyant vocalist. Notably George Michael, who performed with the surviving members of the band shortly after Mercury's death and hit the top of the charts around the world. The band was quiet for about a decade until they undertook a project with former Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers that lasted for a couple years.

But since then, the remaining active members of Queen, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, have mostly just played the occasional awards show and charity event. They performed a spectacular one-off with Tom Chaplin, the singer from British pop quartet Keane, and of course Brian took the stage with Lady Gaga at the VMAs. But since then, nobody has dared to try to fill Freddie's glittery wardrobe.

If we had to think of a singer who fills some of his qualities; a flamboyant performer, someone who can hit the notes, and someone who would give the material the respect it deserves, who would you think of?

If you said Adam Lambert, than you'll be happy to know that he just announced that he'll be touring with the remaining members of Queen this summer. No specifics on dates and locations yet (although Knebworth, England, the location of the original band's final show together, is rumored to be one stop), and it's possible that the string of shows won't make it to our shores. But as the plans develop you can count on us here at WOBM.com to keep you updated!

So what do you think? Is Adam Lambert a good choice to fill Freddie's shoes? Take our poll below, then leave a comment and let us know your thoughts. Who are some famous musicians who are just impossible to replace?
