Toms River investigators say a fire that erupted at 'Access Motor Cars' on Route 9 early this morning appears to have been accidental in its cause.

A passerby reported seeing flames and smoke from somewhere in the area of the business park.

Police and Fire units (Pleasant Plains Fire Company and Toms River Fire Department #2) responded to the structure fire at 2345 Route 9, Frank's Business Park, around 4:08 am and were able to bring the flames under control.

The fire was extinguished and businesses were ventilated.

Preliminary investigation indicates the origin of the fire appears to be accidental and started in unit #5, Access Motor Cars, but the investigation continues under the lead of Toms River Fire Bureau Investigator Richard Foster.

The Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention is being assisted in the investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Toms River Police Department.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire but the connecting businesses suffered some smoke damage.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are accusations only.  Every criminal defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
